Role Mission
The mission of the Winding and Curing Lead is to ensure stable, safe, and high-quality winding and curing operations by leading on-site processes, equipment, and personnel. The role is responsible for operational execution, process reliability, and continuous improvement of winding and curing activities in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Expected Outcomes
A successful Winding and Curing Lead will:
Ensure safe, stable, and efficient daily winding and curing operations
Achieve consistent product quality according to specifications and process parameters
Meet production targets for throughput, cycle time, and yield
Identify process deviations early and implement corrective actions
Establish clear structures, procedures, and responsibilities on the shop floor
Support scalability and repeatability of winding and curing processes
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all on-site winding and curing operations
Ensure correct execution of winding and curing processes according to work instructions
Monitor process parameters, equipment status, and product quality
Identify root causes of process deviations and drive corrective and preventive actions
Coordinate closely with production, engineering, quality, and operations teams
Support setup, operation, and optimization of winding and curing equipment
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards
Train, guide, and support operators working in winding and curing processes
Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, tooling, and workflows
Support introduction of new processes, equipment, or product variants
Competencies
Technical and Process Know-how
Strong understanding of winding and curing processes in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work with technical equipment, process parameters, and materials
Experience with structured production processes and documentation
Understanding of quality control, process stability, and safety requirements
Leadership and Professional Skills
Hands-on leadership style with strong on-site presence
Structured, reliable, and solution-oriented working approach
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage daily operational challenges
Strong communication and coordination skills
Ability to lead by example on the shop floor
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
Technical education, vocational training, or engineering background
Several years of experience in winding, curing, composites manufacturing, or related production processes
Proven experience in a lead, supervisor, or senior operator role
Experience working in structured, process-driven production environments
Language Skills
English is required
Ability to communicate clearly in spoken English in a production environment
Ability to read, understand, and apply technical documentation in English
Work Model
On-site work is mandatory
Willingness to work closely with equipment and production teams on a daily basis
Our current facility is located in Lockhart, Texas (near Austin/San Antonio)
In mid-2026, Blackwave will relocate to a new site in the Port San Antonio aerospace hub
